Wednesday in the Word is my podcast about what the Bible means and how we know. The name comes from the Bible study I taught from 1994-2014. Like Ezra, I have set my heart to “study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach His statutes” (Ezra 7:10).
Krisan Marotta became a Christian late in high school through Youth For Christ, but really began to understand the gospel in college. She majored in journalism at Stanford University. Her mother thought she was sending Krisan to an Ivy League University, but God was sending her to Peninsula Bible Church (PBC). The verse-by-verse teaching at PBC inspired her to learn to study the Bible for herself.
After college, she completed a 3-year post-graduate program in biblical exegesis at McKenzie Study Center in Oregon (back when it was a Study Center; before they started Gutenberg College.)
In 1990 she and her husband moved to Virginia to raise their children near family. Krisan continued her passion for Bible study and began teaching. In addition to being the Women’s Ministry Director for her local church for over 20 years, she taught a weekly women’s bible study from 1994 to 2014. She began podcasting in 2011, and fortunately, made it her main focus just before COVID.
She and her husband are rapidly approaching their 50th wedding anniversary. They have two grown children and two grandchildren. When she’s not studying, podcasting or playing with grandchildren, you can find Krisan dancing with the Skyline Country Cloggers.
